Advent Calendar – Dec 10

We’re looking at a new puzzle type again today, cave puzzles!

Cave puzzles are a type of region shading puzzle that can be a lot of fun. Similar to the icelom, you might need to look at different parts of the grid and sometimes make smaller deductions that will add up to a finished grid.

If you are subscribed to the standard or family advent calendars, you’ll find links to the pdfs of today’s puzzle below.

  1. What a puzzle! I am in awe of this one.
I started a little too early in the morning I think, so I was too tired, and saw nothing and got nowhere. Got back to it some ten hours later, and while still having to work hard for it, got it done this time, and it was just a joy to see the logic unfold. I am going to revisit this one later on, and tell all my friends to come here and try it to. Fantastic job on this one, and on this Advent calender as a whole!

    • Glad you liked it! I enjoy cave puzzles and some of the interesting logic that can arise from them, but I don’t see them that often, so I’m happy to know you are spreading the word. 🙂

  2. Took me 3 attempts at different times of the day. Kept getting stuck really early on with one black square. Only on the third attempt did one of the pieces of information from the video actually ping into my brain and I saw some obvious next steps. From there on it was a really fun exercise in logic.
